Acting Mayor of Portmore, Councillor Leon Thomas, has removed a tree from a defective drain at West Trade Way in the Municipality, which was posing a traffic hazard and security risk to persons using the area.
In leading a removal team to the location today, the Acting Mayor said the Municipal Council moved to address the concerns expressed by residents and members of the business community.
He also noted that while the tree has been removed, the drain in which it was growing has not yet been repaired, and called for motorists in particular to be cautious when approaching that section of the road. Mr. Thomas says work is expected to continue in the area in the coming week.
