Property tax is a charge levied on property in Jamaica. This charge is liable to be paid by all persons in possession of land. The Property Taxes paid is used to offset the cost of providing street lights, solid waste collection and disposal, parochial road rehabilitation and community beautification projects.
Property taxes are due annually at the beginning of each fiscal year and can be paid annually, semi-annually or quarterly. Payments can be made:
- At any Collectorate or Tax Office
- Online at www.jamaicatax-online.gov.jm
The Department assists in delivering property tax reminders within the Municipality and colleccting outstanding taxes from high-end delinquent property owners .
