The Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) joins the rest of the country in sympathizing with relatives of 10 year old Nyheema Barrett and 4 year old Shaheem Green, who lost their lives in a fire that destroyed their home on Wednesday morning.
The KSAC family joins countless Jamaicans at home and in the Diaspora as we collectively mourn the death of two very promising youngsters.
It is even more poignant that the deaths of these precious children occured in Child Month a time when we pause to pay tribute to our nation's children
Our children are our future and we must protect the legacy of their life. The KSAC will do all within it's power to assist the grieving families.
We urge residents of Kingston and St. Andrew to always observe and practice fire safety and prevention measures with family members such as moving anything that will burn far away from structures, items like firewood, compost piles, brush piles, etc and calling the fire department if you see suspicious fire or smoke in your surroundings.
