Mayor Brown Burke attends and participates in the UN Commission on the Status of Woman 60th Session

Against the backdrop of Women's Day 2016, celebrated on March 8, under the theme, 'Pledge For Parity", and  as we continue to acknowledge and celebrate the progress we have made both locally and international, in our campaign to establish and acknowledge the rights of women, our very own ,Mayor of Kingston, Dr. Angela Brown Burke is preparing to make her presentation, as one of the Panelists at the UN Commission on the Status of Women, 60th  session, now in progress in New York.  
 
In accepting the invitation to participate, Mayor Brown Burke was required to submit a short paper, in keeping with the discussion on "participation and multi-stakeholder partnerships for gender responsive implementation of the 2030 Agenda". In her submission she highlighted the many steps taken to arrive at where we are in Jamaica today, as it relates to the rights of women. This includes Universal Adult Suffrage in 1944 to  having women serve at the highest office  in our Nation.
 
In keeping with the theme, her paper is entitled, Celebrating each accomplishment on the road to sustainable development: "one one cocoa full basket"
