Municipal Officer

The CLARENDON MUNICIPAL CORPORATION is inviting suitably qualified applicants to apply for the position of MUNICIPAL OFFICER
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
You will be required to patrol assigned areas on foot or with mechanical transport in order to observe civil activity and ensure compliance with municipal laws and regulations; 
To administer compliance with Local authorities legislation governing the Litter Act; Hawkers and Peddlers Act; Traffic Offences committed by drivers of public passenger vehicles and other related local government regulations also ensuring that operators of public places and businesses are complying with the relevant Public Health sector regulations; 
To administer the enforcement of traffic regulations governed by the Local Authority particularly those relating to private passenger vehicles; 
Operating in the municipal markets and other approved vending areas ensuring that vendors are complying with the stipulated terms and conditions of their contract such as payment of fees, behavioral conduct and operating conditions; also enforcing rules and regulations governing the operations of the transportation centres in the jurisdiction of the local authority; 
Patrolling and reporting breaches of the building code regulations and encroachment to the respective local government officer so that the requisite corrective measures can be taken; 
 
Assisting the Revenue and Compliance Officer of the Corporation in registering business under the Businesses and Trade Licences Act and reports to the Corporation the required punitive measures for those not complying; also serving assessment notices, levy writs and summons relating to Property Tax and Trade and Business Act; 
 
Ensuring that persons granted operating permits to operate businesses such as Barbers and Hairdressers salons etc. are complying with the terms and conditions of the contracts. 
Reports missing traffic signals, signs and missing or mal-functioning street lights to Supervisor and other required persons in authority; also abuses of public facilities e.g. standpipes, public tanks etc. 
Preparing activity reports for review and approval of the Supervisor and for legal action where required; also assisting in mediation and conflict resolution at entries falling within the jurisdiction of local authorities such as markets, transportation centres etc. 
Performing other related duties assigned.

Qualifications: 

Minimum Requirements-
 
High School Diploma
Good oral and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Security Training would be an asset
