KINGSTON’S MAYOR TOURS HISTORIC CORONATION MARKET WITH CATHERINE O’BRIEN, WIFE OF PATRON AND FOUNDER OF DIGICEL FOUNDATION

As part of her visit to the island which marks another step in the journey of continued partnership between the Digicel Foundation and  Jamaican communities, Catherine O’Brien recently toured the historic Coronation Market with  Mayor of Kingston Dr. Angela Brown Burke, J.P. and her team from the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC).

The tour focused mainly on renovation works undertaken to refurbish the market after the Tivoli incursion and its maintenance which has greatly improved the customer experience and enhanced vendor morale. Digicel Foundation contributed JMD$200,000,00 towards the improvement of the facility which was completed in 2011 .

Mayor Brown Burke expressed gratitude to Mrs. O’Brien and the Digicel Foundation for the kind gesture on behalf of the KSAC , and indeed the vendors and shoppers of Kingston and St. Andrew and  noted that ongoing efforts by the KSAC to improve the management and upkeep of the Coronation Market.
