St. James Parish Council now accepting nominations for Sam Sharpe Awards

MONTEGO BAY, St. James (September 14, 2016):  The St James Parish Council is requesting nominations for the 2016 Sam Sharpe Awards which honors exceptional individuals across the western parish.
 
The Sam Sharpe Awards seeks to identify and highlight persons for their outstanding contribution to the economic, social, cultural or political development of St James. The awards are also open to persons from the parish residing abroad.
 
Members of the public are encouraged to submit their nominations along with an up-to-date biographical note or resume by Wednesday, October 5, 2016 in order for nominees to be considered. Additionally, only Jamaicans are eligible, no self-nomination and no previous National Honours and Awards recipients will be accepted.
 
Winners of the awards will be presented with a commemorative plaque at the upcoming Heroes Day Civic Ceremony on Monday, October 17, 2016 in Sam Sharpe Square.
 
Interested persons may collect nomination forms from the St James Parish Council offices on Union Street in Montego Bay or from the Social Development Commission (SDC) parish office in Albion and the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission parish office located at the RADA Complex in West Green, Montego Bay.
