February is Reggae Month: Reggae Mek Yah!

As we turn our attentions to the many activities and events being celebrated this monthand in addition to being celebrated as Black History Month, February is celebrated as Reggae Month here in Jamaica. This year's celebrations are being carried out under the theme "Reggae Mek Yah."

As we celebrate our rich and indigenous culture and the pioneers who helped to place us on the map, we wish to commend the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaaRIA) for their continued efforts and for partnering with the KSAC and leading the charge along with support from the Edna Manley College for the Visual & Performing Arts, the Ministry of Tourism & Entertainment, the CHASE Fund and the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF).

On Wednesday, February 2nd, our own Town Clerk, Mr Robert Hill participated in a public forum at the Edna Manley College entitled the 'JARIA Open University' where he was part of a panel discussion that focused on our Creative City designation and the next steps that Kingston as a City will be taking to live up to our commitment in this regard.

Having received our stellar UNESCO Designation as a Creative City in the category of Music in December 2015, we are more than pleased to announce that the KSAC is lending its support to the initiatives, presentations and celebrations throughout Reggae Month.
